The Older The Fiddle, The Sweeter the Tune

Not JUST a wonderful weekend with friends and fabulous food and fun in a different time zone and city.

Not JUST many greetings and salutations from friends and family.

Not JUST Tim O'Brien singing Happy Birthday to me at the Kent Stage.

Not JUST Mountain Heart playing at the Kent Stage.

But Tim O'Brien playing WITH Mountain Heart on the Kent Stage, on my birthday.

The only way it could be any better is if instead of giving everyone a day off to celebrate Veterans, we actually gave our veterans health care, and jobs, and supportive services, and a place to live.

Have a good night, and if you are a banker, postal worker, or government slave, a nice day off tomorrow.

The Older, and Most Definitely Better, MM

The best Tim solo set that I've seen so far. His presence definitely seemed to lift Mountain Heart's game to a higher level. I've seen him have that same effect on other bands (like YMSB for instance.) They know that when they're playing with TimBoB they've got to elevate their game. He's a hoss.

Happy Birthday!!! I was in the windy city for mine as well, just about a month ago.

Great minds.. and all that, eh. ;-}

Glad you had a great time, MM.

Yeah, he's a badass isn't he, with that little old Nugget? I'm so glad he did The Crossing, otherwise I felt a little slighted on fiddle tunes.

I am not happy, however, that the other badass, Adam Steffey, is leaving Mountain Heart. Or at least that's what I thought I heard. They are a fantastic group of musicians and are clearly a team. Hopefully they'll be able to recruit someone who can keep it all moving but it's hard to replace a genuine star.

Hey Mr. Bains! Thanks and a belated to you! Hope you're doing well.

Happy BELATED birthday!! What a great tribute from Tim O'Brien, who, I'll bet, didn't even sing it off-key.

Aww. The only thing missing from the birthday fun was all y'all there to share it with me, but your warm and welcome wishes will do very nicely until we can raise a glass.

Cheers and thanks,
MM

Hello Professor,
You never forget. I still remember how D and I shot out of bed when the phone rang at whatever hour it was -- it was you from Deutscheland! I hope you are thoroughly enjoying your sabbatical and that we can milk it a little before its over. Go Steelers...
Love, MM

First off, I just sent you two cds with Tim's set and the encores.

But you have GOT to hear "Always Lift Him Up - A Tribute to Blind Alfred Reed."

The official release was last night (Friday) at the WV Music Hall of Fame ceremony. It's available from Amazon but I hope that pretty soon you can get it from either Tim's site or the WV Music Hall of Fame Site

But someway, somehow, you have GOT to get this recording.
